Magnetic Resonance Research Center |
Yarger Group Research & Facilities: The Yarger Research Group is in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Arizona State University. Our research focus is on structural and dynamic elucidation of amorphous materials, polyamorphism, nanoparticles, soft matter materials and biopolymers. Applications of our current research on amorphous materials include the areas of battery materials, fuel cells, artificial tendons, tempered glass, optical fibers, membrane transport and plague related diseases (chronic wasting disease and amyloid diseases). Research laboratories are located in the Physical Sciences (PS) building and the Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Building #1 (ISTB1). Scientific instrumentation is currently in the following labs: (i) PS-C258 - differential scanning calorimeters (DSC); TGA; DMA and computer servers; (ii) PS-C50 - glovebox; electrochemistry; synthesis lab; furnaces; vacuum lines; hoods; uv/vis; hplc; (iii) PS-C52 - Brillouin imaging; Raman spectroscopy; optical lab; (iv) PS-C45 laser fluorescence, diamond anvil cells; (v) PS-C37 - Raman spectrometer; (vi) ISTB1 - liquid/solid state Varian 800 MHz NMR spectrometer; 500 MHz Varian liquid-state NMR; solid-state wide-bore Varian 400 MHz NMR; liquid/solid-state narrow-bore Varian 400 MHz NMR; walk-up Varian 300 MHz NMR; solid-state wide-bore Chemagnetics 300 MHz NMR; student laboratory Varian 200 MHz NMR. The group offices are in PS Rms B254 & C234 and J.L. Yarger's office is in Physical Sciences Rm 255/251. For more information about the departmental research facilities click here. |
